WESTERN SERIES
A confrontation or a harmony?
The Western Series explores the tension and dialogue between East and West—between emotion and intellect, chaos and order. In monumental forms, sculptor Eyüp Can reflects the dualities within himself and his geography: the burning red of passion meets the quiet blue of thought. Each piece captures a suspended moment—a possible duel, a possible embrace.
This is not just a series of sculptures; it is a landscape of contrasts, caught in motion.
Western Series
Like the encounter of East and West within me.
Red: My passions, my rage, my fire… It burns like the depth of the East.
Blue: My mind, my poise, my distance, my calm… It hushes like the coolness of the West.
There are two figures in this scene.
But no clear answer:
Is it a duel?
Or a dance?
Perhaps two worlds entwined in silence…
East and West…
Heat and cold,
Near and far,
A line stretched between chaos and order.
In truth, I’m portraying the geography I’ve lived in.
